Colin and Dewi first met at an art scholarship award ceremony at San Diego State University. Both being in the design department, Dewi asked if she could see Colin's portfolio. Since Dewi was there with her boyfriend at the time, Colin was mildly friendly. He would later reveal that he thought she was very cute and had wished she had brought no one.
The next year, the two had an encounter in the school's computer lab. Colin recognized Dewi and sat down in the seat next to her. Conversation struck and he would later ask if she wanted to come out to the bars for his 24th birthday. At the time Dewi was only 20...so a bar was out of the picture. "What about lunch?" He asked. Lunch turned into an amazing 8 hour date. The date was followed by "Wine Monday." a term Colin made up to see her the next day. The rest is history.
This picture was taken on the couple's first trip to Julian. The two enjoyed the quaint town and loved the scenic drive. On their way home, Colin and Dewi found a lone tree in the middle of a grassy plain. Colin carved their initials in it and Dewi said "This is our tree." They would come back every year to enjoy the season in Julian and see their tree.
Now with close to 2 years of dating, Colin knew that Dewi was the girl for him. He decided to get Dewi the ring she had always wanted. Something unique and beautiful. Just like her. Since she didn't want a traditional diamond engagement ring, he picked out a beautiful pearl ring and surprised her with a weekend trip to Santa Barbara.
On the first night of the trip, Colin decided he would pop the question. He had planned on proposing to her on the beach but she said her famous line "It's too cold!" So Colin had to improvise. When the two got back to their room, he decided to open a bottle of champagne that he brought just for the occasion. While she wasn't looking, he put the ring at the bottom of the glass and got on one knee. All Dewi could say was "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" for what seemed like forever to him. "So does that mean yes?" he said. "Of course!" she cried.
They had an amazing engagement weekend together riding bicycles on the beach and enjoying Santa Barbara together.
Colin and Dewi set the date of their wedding for July 12, 2014. It will be a simple beach and backyard wedding with close friends and family. They are excited to start their life together as husband and wife and plan on having many more adventures together as a family! ♡C&D
